Yes, there are animals on the loose in Metrowest's computer lab. Tiger operating systems, to be exact. We have gone iMac!
For years we have used PC's in our computer lab, but to increase our workshop options and reach out to those school and special libraries that have been using Apple computers, we switched to iMacs. This gives us the ability to use both Windows applications and Mac applications on a beautiful 20" computer screen. It also minimizes the amount of wires dangling underneath the lab desks because we no longer have to use external speakers. The speakers that come built in the iMac are great, as well as the camera and iLife software. It opens us to a new vista, so to speak. What's most exiting is our ability to continue popular classes such as Dreamweaver and Photoshop, yet can add new classes such as iMovie or Video Blogging.
We've already held one class in the lab, can you guess what it was? Basic PC Maintenance! Yes, PC Maintenance on a Mac! Amazing.
We hope you all have the opportunity to check out our new lab the next time you come by. If you have any suggestions for workshops, let us know! We would love to add them to our calendar.
In the meantime, we await the arrival of Leopard, the new Operating System for Apple. There are supposed to be some great enhancements included and we hope you'll join us for a test drive.
