As you may know, MassCat will be going through some big changes in the upcoming months. MassCat is in contract negotiations for a new system, and we hope to be moving to the Koha open-source system by July 1. This system will provide a circulation and serials management system for those who choose to use it. In addition, a new fee structure for participation will be put in place.
We invite Metrowest MassCat members to meet with us on December 7 to discuss the upcoming changes and to answer any questions or concerns you may have about the move to a new system. We hope to show examples of how this system is used, though we will have a full demonstration of the system in January.
We believe this new system will be a positive move and will help MassCat grow in the coming years, but we understand that some of you may be concerned about learning a new system or paying different fees. Metrowest remains committed to providing an affordable resource-sharing system for our member libraries, and we want to make sure all concerns are addressed as we move forward.
This will be an exciting time for MassCat, and I hope you will all be pleased when you see what the new system can do for us.
