POPULAR PAPERBACKS NOMINATIONS SOUGHT

posted Wednesday, 8 February 2006

forwarded from Diane Emge, Popular Paperbacks Chair 2007

The 2007 categories for Popular Paperbacks for Young Adults are now posted on the YALSA web site. If you have never investigated this YALSA resource, you'll be delighted to find a fabulous collection of topical lists compiled over the ten years since PPYA's creation in 1997. This year the categories are:

Get Creative: Books to help teens tap into their creative juices, such as how-to and craft books, as well as fiction and nonfiction stories about artists from various fields of creative expression.

Religion: Relationship with the Divine:  Fiction and nonfiction books that capture the revelation of a Divine Power in the lives of teens, or stories about a teen's search for religious experience.

Now THAT'S Comedy! Humorous Books: Hilarious fiction and nonfiction for teen readers.

I'm Not Making This Up: Addictive nonfiction that's impossible to put down.

Anyone can nominate a title (except authors and publishers) for inclusion on a list. Committee members will then review each nomination and second those that fit the criteria for PPYA, which then makes the nomination official. Nominated titles must be relevant to the topic of the list, available in paperback format, and POPULAR!

Take a look at the Popular Paperbacks web site at http://www.ala.org/yalsa/booklists/poppaper and nominate your favorites!
