Mother Goose on the Loose (MGOL) for Spanish Speakers

posted Thursday, 18 September 2008

Here's an exciting opportunity for  Children's Librarians serving Spanish speaking communities:

!Saludos!

On Tuesday, October 28th Betsy Diamant-Cohen, creator of the award
winning Mother Goose on the Loose program (MGOL)  will be in Watertown,
MA with a team of two trainers offering a free workshop adapting her
MGOL curriculum for libraries and day care providers serving Spanish
speaking children. Betsy and the staff of the Enoch Pratt Free Library
in Baltimore are currently running a program called "Buena Casa, Buena
Brasa". The MBLC is interested in offering LSTA funds to libraries to
carry out this program as an adaptation of our current Mother Goose
grant that will be offered this fall.

This workshop will be conducted in ENGLISH but is geared towards the
children of English Language Learners. The workshop will run
approximately 10:00- 2:30 p.m. with a light lunch provided. Space is
limited, however.

Librarians who are interested in this training are urged to contact me
for more details. This workshop would also be appropriate for day
care/early childhood providers who might come as part of your team. I
will be joining Betsy at the end of the week at the ALSC conference in
Salt Lake City where we will be doing some training related to this
topic.  Please send me an email about your interest in this program.
Betsy is a fabulous trainer and this program holds great promise for
reaching out to the children of English language learners in our
communities.
