L.M. MONGOMERY INSTITUTE ANNOUNCES UPCOMING EVENTS

L.M.  Montgomery Institute announces upcoming events,  including a workshop, a course on the life of L.M.  Montgomery and a conference hosted by the University of Prince Edward  Island - "Storm and Dissonance: L.M. Montgomery and Conflict."

The 7th international conference on Canadian children' author, L.M.  Montgomery", this conference features presentations by more than 30  speakers from countries such as Canada, the United States, Finland,  Scotland, Japan, Germany, and Lithuania. Topics range from mothering to  contrasts between public and private lives to issues related to WWI. Keynote addresses:
"L.M. Montgomery: The Darker Side" by acclaimed author and researcher,  Dr. Margaret Doody from Notre Dame University.

"Anne, Emily and the Finnish Women: Love and Controversy for More than  80 Years" by Finnish journalists, Suvi Ahola and Satu Koskimies.

Special Workshop:
"Rilla of Ingleside: Canada's War?" presented by Dr. Andrea McKenzie of  New York University. A hands-on, active workshop with educators in mind,  this workshop examines the question: "What was life like for Canadian  teenagers and their families during WWI?" For more information, please  visit

Special L.M. Montgomery course
"L.M. Montgomery: The Journals, the Novels and the Mystery of Creativity"  is a special course presented by world-renowned Montgomery scholar and  co-editor of Montgomery's published
journals, Dr. Elizabeth Waterston, and  star researcher and popular conference presenter, Dr. Jennifer Litster.  Offered as a condensed course which includes participation in the  Montgomery conference, this course can be taken for full academic credit  or as a non-credit workshop.
