Happy Holidays!

posted Wednesday, 19 December 2007

Hi Everyone,

Here's some Holiday Cheer, brought to you by Metrowest's own Mark A. Malcolm, Children's Librarian in Maynard!

Enjoy!

A Librarian's Christmas Carol (Part II)

There once was a librarian
Who of her meanness hid no signs
She would go 'round door to door
Collecting everybody's fines

Her icy cold demeanor
The biggest men could crush 'em
And before patrons even spoke
She would turn around and shush 'em

If patrons were delinquent
Like Hester Prynne she'd give them flak
She'd make them wear a T-shirt
With a big "D" on its back

When for cards folks would apply
She would really make it hard
They'd have to do a reading
And if it wasn't good, no card

Then a small boy tried to warn her
Santa's coming Christmas night
She just looked him in the eye
And turned and said, "Yeah right"

But late that holiday evening
Down her chimney came two feet
She said, "You're not Santa Claus
You're that guy from up the street"

Alas though, it WAS St. Nick
And he granted all her wishin'
With the greatest gift of all
A more pleasant disposition

Then she waived everybody's fines
And gave advice for all to heed
"Have a very merry Christmas
And don't forget to read!"
